I wanted to see if what I thought would happen would happen. And it did. In your previoous post calling for Gay literature, poetry, art etc... you were overwhelmed with responses, many of them negative towards homosexuality. Now in a post on attacks on people for their sexual orientation, only one answer. <BR/>And here is the problem, the peopel that made those homophobic comments will never admit or see that their attitude opens the way for the violence that is visited on persons of a sexual orientation that is not the accepted norm. Not one posted a comment to say, while I am against homosexuality what happened was wrong. Silience is condonement.<BR/>I just had to say.Anonymous[email protected]tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8686769.post-82373297163511791412008-04-23T15:34:00.000+01:002008-04-23T15:34:00.000+01:00I lived in SA for a while and this is one aspect I...I lived in SA for a while and this is one aspect I always struggled to contend with. <BR/><BR/>Violence, especially against women, children and foreigners (or any one with obviously different lifestyles) was displayed with a casualness that still shocks me..<BR/><BR/>I can't pretend to understand all the root causes but I am convinced that education (or lack of same) is contributory.<BR/><BR/>I don't believe education is free at any level just yet in this country and with the resources they have, and the massive numbers needing access, this is a shame. <BR/><BR/>Even worse, quality of education in the public (fee paying) schools has taken a massive nose dive these past few years.<BR/><BR/>In the meantime, quality of leadership continues to be watered down as "original Zulu boy" JZ holds tenuously to the ANC leadership. <BR/><BR/>Fortunately, a lot more work would have to be done to mess up this very robust economy but the government continues to mess up it's social responsibilities. <BR/><BR/>Na real wa...<BR/><BR/>AlutaAnonymous[email protected]
