The cybercrime draft bill covers SPAM in section 3
"Any person spamming electronic mail messages to recipients with whom he has no previous commercial or transactional relationship commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine of =N=500,000 or imprisonment for a term of not less than 3 years or to both such fine and imprisonment."

As regards to the proposed bill, it’s about time the authorities woke up to their responsibilities. Unfortunately its a bit too late to repair the reputation Nigeria has gained on the net.

Maybe it's just me but, I cannot find anything that outlaws sending unsolicited email messages (SPAM) in the draft bill. What "Cybercrime law" would be complete without that?

IANAL, So Perhaps there is already an Anti Spam law already in effect. In which case the level of enforcement that is in place for that should be anticipated for this new law!
