Building a bottle house in Abuja (forwarded message)

Please keep your plastic bottles to be turned into affordable housing.

We aim to collect 300,000 bottles to build a two-bedroom house. We hope that this project will encourage others do to the same – thereby providing decent accommodation and cleaning up a major pollutant.

I will be storing the bottles at our home; House 29, Shell Imani Compound, Madeira Street.

Please give me a call if you have a supply of bottles and would like me to collect them: 07057626282.

Sincerely
Katrin Macmillan

Wouldn't it be easier (cheaper) just to build it out of mud?

i think the point of all this wahala is to turn environmentally damaging waste into something much needed- affordable housing; hopefully the bottles are BPA free hehehe.....

Great work! I'm in Bujumbura and also thinking of creative ways to make use of plastic bottles. We would like to have art competition based on building it out of plastic bottles. I see from the picture that you're using a mud barrier between them. Are you using any kind of roping or gluing beside that?

Keep up the great work.
