How to donate to Jos if you are in Lagos

Another forwarded message from Katrin:

Dear Friends,

There has been an overwhelming response to the appeal for supplies for survivors in Jos, and donations have flooded in. Thank you. The supplies have been delivered to the Nigerian Red Cross tonight for safe transport to Jos. So far we have sent over 40 large boxes of supplies, many of them medical. Another shipment of goods will go out on Monday evening.

People in Lagos have been calling and emailing me to find out where they can take donated supplies. The Nigerian Red Cross and ICRC have arranged to safely transport all donations from Lagos to those who have lost everything in Jos.

Nonye will be at the Lagos Nigerian Red Cross office to receive your donations from Friday 22nd and again from Monday – Friday thereafter, 8am-4pm. The address is:
11 Eko Akete Close, off Gregory College Road, Ikoyi. Nonye will then help to coordinate their safe passage to Jos, and appropriate distribution by the ICRC and Nigerian Red Cross teams. You can contact Nonye at: [email protected] or 0802 308 8768.

These supplies
are urgently needed. I am receiving reports from Jos about the hundreds of refugees who have lost their homes, and about the injured who are in urgent need of medical care. Please donate what you can in Lagos.

Here in Abuja I am collecting further donations of blankets, camp beds, clothes (child and adult), non-perishable foods and medical supplies to distribute in Jos on Monday evening (please deliver to: Shell Imani Compound, Madeira Street, House 29).

The ICRC and Nigerian Red Cross have assured us that they will manage and supervise the safe distribution of these goods. They will be given directly to those in need.

With thanks in advance,
Katrin Macmillan
