hmmm, my parents who went to school and lived in the north for quite a bit have told me about this, but my friends from the north that are around my age have denied the existence of these men, I wonder if it might be dying out
i wonder if the author explored the origin of the term 'yan daudu', which literally translates 'those of (or those like?) David' - (the hausa version of David is Dauda).

You mis understand.
It's really irrelevant what the nature of David and Jonathan's relationship actually was. What matters is what people may have thought it was.
My interest is in the etymology of the phrase 'Yan Dauda'.
